To ensure you get the most out of your hobby room, our buildings are built using energy-efficient, structurally insulated panels (SIPS) for the walls, floor and roof. Even the splines between the panels are ‘mini’ SIPs panels which means that your building is fully insulated and with no ‘cold bridging’ areas.
SIPs panels are lightweight and strong making them a quicker and easier option to use on a project but still of the highest quality. The panels offer a low U rating which means that your building will be cosy in the winter and cool in the summer.

I’m a beauty therapist and after seven good years working for a high street salon, I decided to go it alone. The decision to work from a garden pod at home was a moment of inspiration that gave my business an instant head start. he Oasis Pod has given me a real USP in the area. So many thanks for the professionalism of Garden Hideouts – I was in safe hands from the initial survey to the final handover.
Specifications vary with many different criteria to consider, however as standard, all of our builds include:
A SIPS (Structural Insulated Panels) building built on ground screws with Thermowood cladding to the 3 sides and cement particle board to the rear or any boundary sides.
Internally we finish all our garden rooms to a plastered finish, with internal and external lighting, double sockets and an electric heater.
The roof is EPDM rubber (Ethylene Propylene Diene Monomer) and trimmed with powder coated aluminium roofing trim to match the windows and doors.
Square edge skirting board and a choice of laminate are also included.
The windows and doors are double-glazed uPVC, anthracite external and white internally.
Thoughtfully designed access point featuring a Composite 450mm deck step. This step is not only sturdy and durable but also crafted to seamlessly blend with the aesthetic of your garden room
Our friendly, professional design specialists will take the time to understand exactly how you want to use your garden room and create a detailed 3D design to meet your needs & budget.
You’re only five steps away from your dream space.
When designing a garden hobby room, the first thing to be clear on is the primary use of the space to ensure it meets your needs. If you’re planning to use the room for crafts or painting, natural light is important, so think about incorporating large windows or skylights. For hobbies like woodworking or model building, you might need robust ventilation. Insulation is crucial if you intend to use the space year-round, as it will keep the room warm in winter and cool in summer. Also, consider the electrical requirements for any equipment you’ll use and ensure there’s adequate power supply.
To maximise space in your garden hobby room, start by defining areas for different activities and consider using multi-functional furniture, such as fold-down desks or benches with built-in storage. Vertical storage solutions, such as shelving units or pegboards, can help keep tools and materials organised while conserving floor space. If possible, customise storage to fit specific items you use regularly in your hobby, which improves both space efficiency and accessibility. Additionally, keeping the layout flexible, with movable furniture allows you to adapt the space as your hobby or needs evolve.
SIPs are made by sandwiching a layer of insulation between two structural layers. The insulation is often in the form of foam, and SIPs panels commonly have Oriented Strand Board (OSB) walls. This makes for a very strong and energy-efficient panel that can be used to build walls, floors, and roofs.
This depends on the use of the room and most importantly the size of it. Our team can advise on the best approach to gaining permission should it be neeeded.
