Exterior finish and roof
The exterior is clad in traditional ‘wriggly tin’ coated in plastisol – a very thick
rubbery type of coating which is corrosion proof and rust free with the ability to
withstand extreme weather conditions. The exterior and roof can also be clad in
cedar planks for an extra charge.
The frame is made of high-grade structural plywood, precision-cut on CNC
equipment. The method of construction is one commonly used in
Canadian house construction, ensuring a rigid and robust structure which
is also environmentally friendly.
The chassis is made of steel with a combination of longitudinal beams and
transverse ribs, which means that the Chatsworth is built to stand up to
the rigours of transportation. There is also a turntable at the front of the
chassis for easy manoeuvring.
100mm of rockwool, which provides a high level of acoustic and
thermal insulation. Your hut will be cosy all year round!
Shepherd huts – luxury and tradition combined
When you think of the history of Shepherd Huts it’s no wonder they’re such an enduring design. Builtas a mobile shelter for shepherds they had to stand up to the elements whilst providing a cosy, totallypractical living space. Today a Shepherds Hut from Garden Hideouts looks charming in any setting, adding a touch of timeless artisanship to your garden.
From the bespoke iron wheels cast in traditional Black Country foundries to the Farrow & Ball paintwork on the interior, we’ve done everything we can to create an authentic environment. But we’ve also brought a whole range of modern comforts to our Shepherds Huts.
For example, warm air heating combined with high grade insulation make them wonderfully snug in even the harshest weather. Modern appliances in the standard model such as a microwave, integrated fridge, full size shower and seating that converts to a double bed, give you the kind of luxury an 18th century shepherd could only have dreamed of. My therapy pod... I would just like to say, I am so impressed by the work and skill carried out. The pod looks amazing and all my clients are so impressed by the whole structure and all the little finishing touches ie. the rope and fittings.
I liked that I was kept informed and updated throughout with pictures of the progress, nothing seemed like too much. Your team's attitude towards myself, the pod and the care of my house was excellent. They put up with all my annoying questions too!
You have a great team working for you and I feel it's important for you to know this from a happy customer.
All my clients want a pod in their gardens now!...
Thank you too to everyone involved in building my Shepherds Hut, I love it. This morning we had a removals firm move all my fabrics and yarns into the hut and everything is going to look wonderful, after a massive tidying session! I am delighted and will enjoy working in such a special space. ...
